“HEROES” – is the first photo project I created with digital
photo technology. Digital technologies are now part of our everyday life, however, back then they were a relatively new form of art that I was very excited to experiment with.
Colour photography has become indispensable today, however, for me, the appeal of black and white photography has preserved.
The appeal of black and white photography has remained with me.
This project was supported by well-known celebrities from the Latvian art scene.
I deliberately depicted the actors naked to raise awareness of their individual vulnerability as well as the vulnerability of people in our modern society. Everyone is the hero of their own life yet we are all fundamentally the same regardless of fame, status, religion, physical appearance, age or gender. This project showcases seven different well-known individuals which are all different yet united through the seven colours of the rainbow.
