The series grew out of a spontaneous desire to tell a profound and emotional story about loneliness. My neighbours, Georg and Christa, with whom I have a close relationship, acted as models. Together, we chose to photograph in our small town of Nebra – a place known for its history dating back to the 12th century. To give the images greater expression, I digitally reworked them: elements of the town were altered, sky motifs were added, and the female figure was made partially transparent. This creates a link to a parallel world – a memory of those who were close to us and who may now be our guardian angels.
